PappaRich is about to open there first restaurant in NZ at Auckland's new Skyworld Entertainment Centre—Aotea Square. PappaRich is a popular cafe/restaurant with around 100 outlets worldwide focusing on authentic Malaysian cuisine. Project Design International (PDI) are pleased to be involved in this long awaited opening.

Consulting with the PappaRich team to fully understand the new concept to New Zealand, Project Design International Ltd (PDI) visited and toured the company’s established Melbourne restaurants, to see first-hand this unique concept and its operational requirements. The kitchen design incorporates both local and specialist imported equipment. Our team of designers worked with the client to maintain their preferred work flow, whilst incorporating local statutory requirements and service efficiency at the new Skyworld indoor entertainment centre at Aotea Square. The kitchen has an extensive cooking line with specific stations for each food type and laid out in a long gallery style with much of the kitchen open, theatre style.

Whilst working with Melbourne based company Architects EAT; the team and myself created a homely interior with a focus on an open kitchen concept creating a theatrical dining experience. The result is a classic homely design that uses black steel, timber panelling and subway tiles as the main palette. Other features include the custom fixed furniture designed specifically for the space.
