As a site with a tired interior and chequered past, PDI were excited about the opportunity to work on the refurbishment of the L&P Cafe in Paeroa. With an open brief by the client to create a space that would cater for a wide range of customers with a wide range of requirements, PDI saw the opportunity to update the space and create a destination for the locals while offering a hidden gem for travellers.
Having such a broad range of customers with differing requirements, the space was created with a mix of zones from soft seating, communal tables and high seating. Each zone can be reconfigured with flexibility to cater for functions, individual settings or large groups of travellers. This was important to the client and through decorative screens and furniture configurations we have been able to break the once open space into more usable zones.
With rustic timber features that stay true to the provincial roots of its location combined with strong signature colours linking to its brand identity, the space now has a completely new identity and one that will stand out in the local hospitality landscape.
With a limited footprint and a wide range or requirements, the operational space in the bar/ servery has been fine tuned to include everything from cafe requirements to bar services. It is behind the bar/ servery that PDI's extensive operational knowledge came into its own and the client is extremely happy with what the site can now offer.
